Ballet, Eggs and Glasses

Playing blog catch up today to record some of the fun we've been BUSY having. 

Mirror Mirror on the Wall
Sally and I enjoyed a March 25th performance of Snow White at the Pacific Northwest Ballet.  The show was amazing and I loved the costumes.  Sally sat glued to the performance for the entire hour.  The most incredible costume was that of the Wicked Step Mother.  I wish we could have taken photos of that!

It was a lovely afternoon and it is such a treat to have such incredible arts and entertainment right in our backyard, we will likely take advantage of exploring more of these shows in the months to come.

Egg-cellent Fun
We were "egged" for Easter by some very thoughtful neighbors.  The kids thought this was so fun!  25 plastic eggs hidden in our front yard and a sign telling us to go hunting for them.  They had all kinds of yummy sweets tucked in the eggs.  We are blessed to live in such a fun community!

The Smart Look
For my birthday I received a convertible jogger/bike stroller.  Betsy and I put it to good use by walking to pick the "big kids" up from school, about 1 3/4 miles each way. 

On the way home from school, during one of those walks, John mentioned that he couldn't read the signs we were passing..... time for an eye exam. 

As we suspected some glasses will make seeing things a lot better. 

Our appointment wasn't that great as they did that puff of air eye test (for glaucoma) and it wasn't his favorite part- it is never my favorite part either.  Unfortunately, that soured the whole experience a bit despite the really nice Optomotrist worked her darndest to try to get him to crack a smile. 

Appointment Day

I was concerned we were not going to be thrilled to be wearing glasses. But, when he went to school and told one of his favorite friends that he was getting glasses, the friend said, "well now you will look even smarter". 

Turns out that was just the right thing to say to make glasses a big hit. He was actually excited to wear them to school and got lots of compliments.  Not only that, his incredible teacher wore her glasses the day he first sported his to make him feel more comfortable.  His teacher always goes above and beyond and we appreciate her so much for it!
