A visit with Grampa John

Last week the kids and I made a trip up to Bellingham to see Grampa John.  We had a great lunch out at the local Mexican restaurant and a nice time visiting.  Grampa John has a family collage picture frame in his apartment that we put together when he moved from Alaska down to Bellingham.  When we created the collage frame there were two fewer Great Grandchildren (Betsy and Samantha had not been born).  So, while visiting last week I updated his family collage frame with pictures of the new great-grand kids, updated photos of the older great grand kids, left the pictures of the kids and grand kids alone (I thought we all were looking attractive and youthful- why change a good thing?) and included a picture of Grampa's brother Paul taken with my son, John, during our summer trip to Arizona.  Now all four of his children and all 11 of his Great Grandchildren are in the frame.

Betsy was quite thrilled to be at Grampa John's house.  She kept raising her arms in front of him to go up to sit on his lap, but once there she couldn't see his face and then she wasn't so sure about sitting on his lap.  Down she went, then she'd turn around see him and raise her arms for up again.  So very cute.  We were so happy to get a visit in with him before school (and Saturday soccer games) start up this fall!
